Can Lorazepam, BID And Escitalopram Oxalate Be Taken As A Combination?
What is the compatibility, or lack of, between combined dosages of Lorazepam 0.5mg tablets BID and Escitalopram Oxalate 10mg tablet once daily? Patient, female, 94 years, 135 lbs, appears to be in a profound sleep, unable to awaken, interact or respond to verbal or tactile stimuli. Please advise. YYYY@YYYY
Welcome to HCM I understand your concern. There is listed adverse reaction between Lorazepam and Escitalopram. However both are sedative and will have an additive action. As one gets older the metabolism of medicines slows down due to several reasons and older people tend to have cumulative effects of the medicines which are normally well tolerated by younger people. It is better to take her to the ER for an evaluation as there can also be other causes for her unconsciousness. Take Care Dr Noble Zachariah
