Can Mederma And High SPF Sunscreen Cure Child's Scraped Face?

My two year old son scraped his face. It swelled and I tried to ice it-no bleeding. It left two vertical scabs on his cheek. I put ointment on them and in a few days they sloughed off. But two dark scars are still there-not raised- just dark strips or pigmentation on his olive skin. Doctor suggested Mederma and high SPF sunscreen. I am doing this for five days now with no change. Am going to pediatric dermatologist at first opening, but I am disturbed. Doctor said it may not go away completely. I feel horrible and will do anything to correct! Please advise. Thank you.

This will subside or not entirely depend on the child skin no one can change the skin texture. Hope this will subside after 15-30 days by applying ointment
