Can Ziprax Be Given For Fever After Gentle DTP Injection?
My child is 5 Years and 6 months old. Yesterday we have given her Gentle DTP injection. She ate yesterday some cakes and cookies. Now she is having fever and she is also complaining for stomach ach. Can I give her ZIprax 100 dry syrup. Previously, we have given her this medicine. She got cured (please note that at that time Gentle DTP vaccine was not given). ZIPRAX 100 show any side effect for children.

I went through your question ,Ziprax 100 ( cefixime 100 mg / 5 ml ) is an antibiotic , it is not antipyretic or analgesic.If you want to give medicine for fever after Gentle DPT , you should give paracetamol . It can be given if prescribed by your doctor for an ailment ( like stomache ) if your doctors decides for a course of antibiotics for infection. Ziprax 100 is a medicine for children only, it is usually safe in proper doses unless one is allergic to it, but as for all antibiotics it is to be used for a particular duration and doses as decided by your doctor , it is not a medicine like paracetamol , which is usually given as and when required. If your doctor has prescribed you , it is safe to continue, if you are giving it for fever, a big no.
