Can A Person Suffering From Pneumonia Undergo Angiogram Or Angioplasty?

My father was scheduled for an angiogram last Friday but was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia instead. He is still in the hospital and is still very congested but they are planning on doing the angiogram or maybe an angioplasty tomorrow and sedating him for it? Is this safe to do while he still isn't recovered from the pneumonia?

Hello
This is a very difficult question because angioplasty is a different procedure i.e. only related to arteries .
While pneumonia is a different disease and usually related to lungs ( consolidation of lung parts due to infection bacterial or viral ) .
In pneumonia infection is sure , so in my opinion ( personal & experience ) I would not advised angioplasty till complete recovery .
However it depends upon the treating doctor whether he like this procedure or not .
Good luck.
