Can An Iron Supplement Cause Rashes On My Arms?

I was perscribed a iron supplement and have been taking it for 3 days. On the third day I notice a rash begining to start on my right lower arm. Could I be having allergic reaction to this medication? I'm taking 325mg tablets of Ferrious Sulfate once a day.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

The time line of this rash and the start of this medication makes it very suggestive of a possible allergic reaction to iron. I will recommend that you talk to the doctor who prescribed it about this rash. You may want to stop in while you plan and go in for review on whether to continue with the same brand or not as there is no emergency in continuing and stopping has no immediate side effects.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be. Thanks for using our services. We very much appreciate that.
