Can Bee Or Wasp Bite Reoccur Even After Several Years?
Is it possible to have reoccuring syptoms to a bee or wasp bite, even several years later. I was stung by one or the other while on a birding trip in Ecuador while in the canopy. I ended up with a sever rash accompanied by itching which took almost two months to clear up. ( This was in 2010). However, every year since around the same time of year the rash and itching reoccur. Could this be related?
Hi. Yes this can reoccur. As you say it took 2 months for the first attack to settle. Some insect bites can cause a reaction like what we see as FDR ( fixed drug reaction) which can be instigated by many factors to get the same symptoms later. Another sting can be very serious for you . So take care to avoid as you are a birder. On a safer side you should always carry some medicines like anti-histaminics and steroids as per your Doctor's recommendation and carry a card stating this reaction and let the friends and family know about this... Of course enjoy birding and normal routine life. Do not be phobic for stings.
