Can Dogs Licking Cause A Blistering Rash On The Shin?

I have a raised blistering rash on my right shin which is now appearing on my left shin. Some eruptions are perfectly round like a pimple while others are spread out and amoeba shaped. It is biright pale ping and ver noticeable, covering an area over 6 or 7 inches on my right leg. It does not hurt and does not itch. I allow my dogs to lick me freely as they are deeply affectionate and I love them beyond belief. I wonder are they licking me for affection or are they licking what they perceive to be a sore. Did I get it from them licking me? I have tried topical ointments, both antibacterial, antibiotic and fungal. Nothing touched it. I cannot afford a doctor visit just any old time. I will await your recommendation before proceeding. Thanks so much.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It may be saliva induced dermatitis. The skin lesion may be worsen if the process of licking by dog continues. So, it would be better, if you keep yourself away from the dog. Licking is a habit of all dogs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel, Dermatologist
