Can Epilepsy With Fits Be Remedied Through Acupressure?
Age 53 years, Male
I have Epilepsy since 1996 and got several fits. I am under treatment of Dr. B.S. Singhal in Bombay Hospital. He prescribed 2 ½ tab Epsolin (100 mg) and 2 tab of Gardinal (30 mg). For 3 years I was fine and no fit. He then asked me to reduce Epsolin by steps of ½ tab. I am fine with 2 tab Epsolin and 2 tab Gardinal. But if I make it 1 ½ tab Epsolin, I feel giddiness and weakness but no fit. So I have returned back to 2 tab Epsolin and gardinal. Again after 1 year or six months , I tried to reduce, but same result as before. Presently, I am continuing 2 tab Epsolin and gardinal i.e. for 14 years. I am doing Yoga, which helps.
Is there any remedy in Acupressure
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern. It is understandable that you wish to reduce medication and seek for alternative ways to do that. However there is scarce evidence to recommend acupuncture. Those small studies which have been done about acupuncture haven't shown any visible efficacy. They were small studies which aren't enough to exclude benefit at all, perhaps more studies in the future will change that, but up to now there is yet no evidence about benefit of acupuncture for seizures.
I hope to have been of help.
