Can Fluid Accustomed Due To Hernia Operations Be Put To Drain?

I have substantial haematoma or seroma after two hernia operations in my scrotum. I am now 8 weeks out from the last operation and it is still very swollen. My doctor says it could take up to 5 months to dissapate the fluid. Would it be better to put in a drain or see what happens after 5 months? Thank you, Robb

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. Seroma is a known sequel of hernia surgery. I would like to know whether a mesh was put in. Repeated aspirations by a Doctor helps to resolve the condition and drain is not advised if you have a prolene mesh inside. Go for repeated aspirations and mostly your problem will be solved soon.
