Can Hernia, Be Related With Loose Stools And Diarrhea?

I know that I have an abdominal hernia resulting from surgery I had in 2012. My doctor said there is no concern as long it is not bothering me. However, since I saw him about 6 months ago to confirm that is what it is, I have had loose stools, almost like dirarreha. Small feces with a lot of water. My question is can a hernia cause that problem?

Hello,

Unless the hernia is very large usually an average size small hernia would not cause a change in bowel function. I don't think that your symptoms are related to hernia.

I suggest you to do a stool test and a complete blood count for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
