Can Ibs Lead To Very Severe Pain?

Hello my girls has been told she has ibs. She has been given all sorts of meds but none are doing anything. She is getting real bad pain recently, more than normal, my real question is how bad can the pains be for ibs because it got to the point where she is in tears.
