Can Meprate Be Taken Regularly To Induce Periods In A Person Suffering From PCOS And Hirsutism?
Hi Doctor, I am 25yrs old, 52kgs-5'3'' ( not obese at all) and married. I am suffering from PCOS and have very erratic period from last 1 year ( almost once in every 3 months) and hirsutism . It has started to be so erratic after stopping BCP which I took for 3 months ( before which I used to have atleast for once in 45 days ). Last time, my period was induced by taking medoxyprogesterone acetate ( meprate ) after 3 months of no periods. Can I take it again now since I have not got it and my preg test is negative? Will it have any side effects I take it every 3 months when I don't get my periods? Its been 4 months since I had one now. I have also been having some spotting from last few days and some cramps once in a while.
Hi welcome to health care magic forum. The P.C.O.S is the main cause of the irregular periods, the other causes being the anemia, and infection. I advise you to consult a gynecologist for diagnosis and treatment. It is advisible to have treatment for pregnancy as well, other wise it will be difficult to have pregnancy. I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms the harmone pills, fluconazole, cifixime, and hematinics. Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to have enough blood and resistance against infections. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery.Thank you.
