Can Osteoarthritis Cause Ankle Stiffness?

Hi I'm 57 year old women who has osteoarthritas in one hip with a hip resurfacing on the other, I'm also a carer for my husband with MS. Recently I have noticed that my ankles seem to be getting stiffer at the front where the bone joins on to the foot. I am taking tetralysal for acne rosacea, could this be affecting my joints? Or is it just more osteoarthritas in my feet?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello
I have studied your case,

Yes this can be side effect of tetralysal.

I will advise to repeat MRI ankle for soft tissue involvement.
Till time you can continue use supportive splint or brace.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and TENS will help in early healing.
Exercises are important for early healing.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
