Can Postherpetic Neuralgia Cause Itching And Severe Head Pain?

My wife has been treated for about three years for PHN on the upper left part of the scalp. she suffers with severe head pains and itching in that area. A pain management Dr.is getting her an appt.with a rheumatolgest. He thinks she may have R.A. What are your thoughts on this.

Hello,

The symptoms are not suggestive of RA. PHN symptoms are known to persist for several years. Pain relief medicines such as gabapentin, pregabalin or carbamazepine may be continued for long, for adequate relief from symptoms.
