Can Scuba Diving Cause Fits To A 10 Year Old Child?

My daughter has a history of epilepsy. 10 years ago she was operated on a cavanous angioma successfully and cleared from all epilepsy related symptoms. She has started scuba diving 1 year ago. 1 month ago she had another fit and another one yesterday. Can scuba diving cause that?

Hello, patients with seizures or a history of seizures should seek medical advice from their physician prior to scuba diving. Scuba diving is associated with potential changes in blood oxygen levels and pressure in the chest. This may be associated with triggering a seizure. One article on the subject is :Hamad A, Alghadban A, Ward L. Seizure in a scuba diver. Chest. 2001;119:285-286.
If your child has a history of any respiratory problems, this could further worsen the problem. Please consult with your doctor to further evaluate.
