Can Yeast Infection Lead To Red, Itchy Vagina? Should Do A Home Test?

What is going on down there? My vagina is very red, itching, and a few red rash like bumps. I have discharge but nothing out of the ordinary. No smell. Could this be a yeast infection even though I don t have the cottage cheese like discharge? Would you recommend doing an at home test kit?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
The possible causes for your problem are :
- Vaginal infection.
Erythema, swelling etc at the vagina can be caused by many infections. Just by these symptoms we cannot come to one conclusion regarding the causative agent.
-Allergy to tampons and sanitary pads etc.
So, if the symptoms persist, once consult gynecologist and get examined.
If she suggests go for vaginal swab culture and sensitivity.
This helps in finding out the the causative organism and it's sensitivity to drugs
Depending on that treatment can be taken.
Local and systemic analgesic and anti inflammatory drugs help in relieving the symptoms.
Sitz bath can help to some extent.
Take care.
