Cause For Soreness And Slight Popping In The Back Of The Knee?

I am an 18 year old distance runner and have been training for the 3200 meter in track. The other day I had soreness and a slight popping in the back of my knee. My own research seems to indicate that I have injured my Semitendinosus Tendon. The discomfort is on the back inside of my right knee where the tendon. Could this be the problem? If it is, what is the best thing to do? I have a conference meet tonight and sectionals in 2 weeks.
