OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by Gardnerella vaginitis, is a disease of the vagina caused by excessive growth of bacteria. Common symptoms include increased vaginal discharge that often smells like fish.

I suggest you to undergo vaginal swab test, wet mount or microscopic examination to rule out other pathological condition. Do one STD profile.

Treatment - Metronidazole and clindamycin orally or vaginal suppository for 5-7 days. Maintain genital hygiene properly.

Do protected sex with condom. Good luck and take care.
