Child. Large Hard Lump At Side Of Nose Under Eye Socket With Swelling And Bruise. History Of Fall. Suggest

Hi my 6 year old daughter broke her nose after a fall at school 8 days ago. There is still swelling and bruising but have now also felt a large hard lump at the side of her nose starting under her eye socket. We returned to the hospital a couple of days ago to be told it was still too swollen and we have an appointment on Monday. Really worried about the hard lump, could it be cartilage and I assume that would have to be forced back into its correct position.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern. If the swelling is stll present then it is advisable to get an x-ray done to know if there is a fracture. A fracture of the nose will require reduction if there is displacement of the bony parts.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter all the best.
