Child. One Inch Long Single Scratch Mark On Chest. Not Sure Whether Puppy Scratch Or Children Hitting By Nail. Vaccination Required?

Hi, I am Rajesh from Noida. 2 days back, my 30 month old son was playing with street children and few puppies. Today I notice one scratch mark on his left side of chest. It is just a single line about 1 inch long. I am not sure whether it is due to scratcing/beating of a puppy OR some child has hit him with his nail. I am in doubt about whether I should go for the vaccination or not. The scracth is just a single line an inch long. Please advise. The puppies were not pet and were from street only.

Thank you for your query.

You can find out from your son whether he got the scratch from the puppies or something else. He should be in position to tell you.

In case the scratch is from the puppies and you cannot keep a track of them then it is advisable to have the rabies injections.

Thanks for your query.
Since rabies is a fatal disease so no chance can be taken.
Moreover these are street dogs which cannot be tracked.
So I suggest you to get in touch with a pediatrician and get him vaccinated for rabies.
Even if it not dog bite/scratch vaccination can serve as pre exposure prophylaxis.
