Hello
Widal test with S.Typhi (O) & (H) 1:160 is suggestive of Typhoid.
Your pediatrician has made a right diagnosis started a proper antibiotic. After starting proper treatment fever in typhoid comes down within 3-5 days. Your daughter has responded to the antibiotic as she is not having much fever.
Although child starts feeling better by end of one week but a total 14 days of antibiotic treatment is needed in typhoid to prevent the relapse.
Take care of her nutrition and as it is water and food born infection maintain proper hygiene in future to avoid recurrence.
Regards
Widal test is used to diagnose typhoid fever and its useful only in 2nd week of illness.
Typhoid is an infectious disease caused by a bacteria. Its acquired through infected water/ food.
As your pediatrician said, widal test shows she has typhoid.
Usually if treated with monocef, duration of treatment is 10 days.
If switched over to other oral antibiotics, duration of treatment is 14 days.
Fever may come down by 4 to 5 days and her well being will slowly improve. But you have to complete the full course of antibiotics for 10 to 14 days, to avoid complications.
Hope you find my answer helpful.
widal test is done to see antibody againest different typhoid causing pathogen . typhoid is a disease which spread through water or food..since the titre of S Typhi is 160 it considered to be significant and it suggest typhoid fever in your child. complete full course of antibiotic monocef in which 10 to 14 days is recommanded is effective in most of cases and maintain food and water hygiene and hydration of child . if you dont want to have injectable switch to oral ceffixme when fever is setteled and complete full course.
