Dear Doc, My baby is completing 8 months in couple of days(23.09.13). Her birth weight is 2.2kg (sga baby, full term). She is exclusively breastfed for 6 months. Started weaning with ragi porridge and had to formula feed her. I started giving nan pro. after she vomitted couple of times, with doctors advice (in singapore) i started giving Similac total comfort stage 1 ( lactose free formula) which was gentle for her tummy n she was gaining weight adequately. We gradually introduced similac total comfort stage 2 in the end of 7 months. She was still doing fine. But the stools appeared firmer (just like tooth paste coming out of tube consistency) and sometimes green. It is usually once or twice a day. I had to come to india on aug 24th. On 1.09.2013 she started passing looser watery stool. I didnt want to delay as she passed stool thrice in 3 hrs. I took her to doctor she was 6.7 kg at that time. She was active and fine. Doctor told it looks like viral infection and gave Zanocin and Taxim o . He told to give it for 6 days though the dysentry seems controlled. After completing the dose her stools still was not back to normal. It was either watery or semi liquid. And she still passed 6-7 times a day. So went back to dr and was advised to give enterogermina for 3 days once in mrng and 10 days of zincris. Also advised to give isomil. ( i didnt understand y a soy milk when i m already using lactose free milk!) so completed enterogermina, zincris dose, still with isomil 120 ml three times, rice porridge/ nestum (twice a day) and still the stool is watery/semi liquid/MUCUSY.. And she passes 4-7 times a day. Its 21 days now..her weight is 6.5 kg. stools are still not normal. Confused as in what to do? I have a gastro doctor friend who is suggesting 1/2 tablet sporlac for 10 days and aristozyme ( digestive enzyme ) ... What is the difference between enterogermina and sporlac?! Kindly help. Regards
