Child Has Lump On Wrist, Reddish. What Could It Be?

my 18 month old son has a lump on the inside of his wrist on his pinky side. its the size of a nickel its raised but flat... sometimes it purplish colored, sometimes reddish, sometimes just skin colored. its been there for a couple of months now. i took him to his pedi yesterday and she kinda seemed comfused. said it wasnt a ganglion cyst , said it was thickend skin, like a callisess (spelling) but that doesnt make any since!! why would he have it there? he hasnt crawled since 10 months! she just didnt really even know what she was talking about... what could it be?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your dilemma. I would have loved to be of help to you but cannot give a definite comment till I see the lesion. If the lump is not increasing in size nor giving rise to pain then I shall suggest that you wait and watch. If either of the two things are occurring then it shall be advisable to seek the opinion of either a dermatologist or a surgeon.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best.

Regards,

RKK
