Child Have Skin Peeling In Fingertips, High Fever And Itching Rashes

I am a school nurse and have seen a 7 yr old boy today with peeling, sloughing skin on his fingertips of both hands. He had an elevated temp last week and I sent him home for an itching rash on his face and neck. Mom took him to the MD who gave him an abx. I am wondering if this new sx. could be from the rx. I called her , explained to have him rechecked by his PCP but was wondering if it could be an allergy to what I think she said was penicillin (Spanish speaking family) I don't want to miss anything. Any suggestions?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Its likely that the child is suffering from viral exanthem, which is usually self limiting.
If the peeling of the skin and fever are severe then possibility of Scalded skin syndrome should be considered.

Take Care

Best Regards
