Child With Fever. Amorphous Deposit Shown In The Urine Test Report. What Does It Mean?
Hi, my son is five years old, he is suffering from fever and as a routine i got his urine test done...in the urine test the abnormalities have been shown as Deposit : AMORPHOUS DEPOSIT (+++), Proteins : 25 (Traces), Pus Cells : 3-4, RBC : OCC, Epithelial Cells : 1-2. Please advise what is the problem that he is having fever
Hi Amandeep,
Thank you for your query,
Your child urine sample is normal and the pus cells above 5 per /HPF is significant and suggestive of urine tract infection.
Start Paracetamol syrup in prescribed dosage for fever every 6th or 8 th hourly depending on the presence of fever and consult your Pediatrician for the examination of your child to look for any focus of infection and for specific treatment.
Hope i have answered your query.
Hello I have gone through your history. The urine test is not so significant except for RBC and amorphous deposits. If the fever is associated with chills then it can be mostly a urinary tract infection. Any fever will cause protein break down so it can lead to protein excretion through urine. You can use paracetamol for your child for fever and give him excessive fluids orally. Just you can wait and see for another two days.
Thank you. Good day
Hello
Amorphous deposits in urine indicates stasis/retention. Highly concentrated urine due to less fluid intake may also cause these amorphous deposits in urine. Trace protein with pus cells in a symptomatic child suggests urinary tract infection.
I would advise you to give him plenty of fluids and antibiotics after consulting a pediatrician for UTI.
regards
