Child With High Fever. Gave Meftal P, No Change. Crocin Advisable? To Keep Her Temperature In Check Until Consultation?
Hi, my daughter is 3 yrs 8 months old is having 102.8 degree fever. I have given meftal p 5 ml about 2 hrs back. Her weight is abt 13 kg. Still there is not much inprovement. She is behaving normal ,drinking water, had a little food in the evening. Nose is abit stuffy. Checked her throat looks ok. Is there anything i can do to bring her temp down as its mignight now. Also crocin, can i give her a dose? How early shall i have to take her to doctor?. Thanks, Amin
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. To bring down the temperature immediately, give paracetamol (crocin) 15mg/kg body weight as often as every 4th hourly depending on the requirement. You also do tepid water sponging of the whole body which helps in bringing down the temperature Once the temperature is down you can take her to the doctor at your leisure. For nasal stuffiness you may give cetrizine syrup 5ml once daily Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
