Child With Persistent Cold From Birth. Suggestions?

My daughter is 6 months old now. From born she is having cold. I can hear snoaring sound when she sleeps...and some times in the mid night her nostrils are fully blocked and not able to breath properly. For that she will turn this side and that side and cries for some time and when I put nostrils drops after some time she will get relaxed and sleep...but till howmany days I need to manage like this.Could you please provide a perfect suggestion to her problem...I am somach worried about her...she even had 2 doses of PCV vaccination(I thought it will sort out her cold problem) too and in one more month she is going to take third vaccin. In winter season it is goinf worse and after taking bath sometimes she is crying as if something got blocked in her throat or nostrils.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Nose block is a common problem in infants due to presence of small airways.

As the age grows, the problem will gradually subside due to increase in the size of nasal airway due to growth.

I advise you to put nasal saline drops 1 or 2 into each nostril and clear them especially before feeding and sleep.

PCV is a pneumococcal vaccine and it is given to prevent infections like pneumonia, ear infection, and meningitis caused by penumococci bacteria.

PCV doesn't prevent cold or nose block as they are caused by viruses.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
