Child With Severe Constipation. Medication Taken Is Laxopeg. Help?
Hi my son is 3 and a half years old and is only 10 kgs since about 8-9 months..he has severe constipation problem. In fact we we dont give him 1/4 th laxopeg mixed in juice once or twice a week he is not able to pass his stool..and because of that he is not potty trained. We try to give him green veggies, fruits and all but no avail and i have also tried all home remedies too..plz help..
By constipation do you mean he has made more than 3 days without stool despite eating adequately or you mean he is having hard stool. If a 3.5 years old child is suffering from severe constipation, it means there might be problem wrong with the formation of his gut and that might be obstructing adequate bowel movement. You will need to consult with a pediatrician for proper assessment to determine the cause and then recommend the appropriate treatment which could be surgical or medical depending on the findings.
Hope this helps

Child With Severe Constipation. Medication Taken Is Laxopeg. Help?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Constipation in this age group is more common and mostly due to functional means there will be no abnormality. Continu to give dietary fiber rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and leafy vegetables. Ask him to drink plenty of oral fluids. Oral laxatives like lactulose in prescribed dose will loosen the stools. Evaluate the chil with ultrasound abdomen and pelvis, thyroid profilr to rule out the underlying organic cause. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
