Congestive Heart Patient With Bowel Obstruction. Any Option Other Than Surgery?

My dad is 81 years old and a congestive heart patient in the last stages. We found out that he has bowel obstruction and is in a lot of paun. They are giving him morphine to ease the pain, but do not want to operate on him because of his heart. Our family is confused and don t want him to suffer with the pain. What should we do?.Take a risk and have the Dr.perform surgery to save his life or is his heart too weak to survive the surgery?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

His heart condition should be investigated / pressure and failure corrected to the extent possible

Rest of treatment depends on the cause of obstruction
A mechanical obstruction can not be relieved without surgery.

Wait and watch policy serves in some other events like paralytic ileus, electrolyte imbalance, mesenteric vascular insufficiency

The treating surgeon / cardiologist alone can decide

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
