My 6 year old daughter has had a fever , neck , eye and leg pain since friday, I have seen the GP Twice and been to the hospital as her wcc, bone marrow and platlets were slightly low, she still continues to have the pain and fever which I treat with panadol and ibuprofen how long do i leave it if she doesn t get any better?
Pediatrician, Infectious Diseases, Dr. Hema Yadav's Response
Hello,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
If you have consulted a doctor twice I assume he has ruled out any serious viral or parasitic or bacterial infection in your child . Most viral infections resolve within a week with supportive treatment ( Panadol and ibuprofen .But if the symptoms have not decreased after 3 days or seem to worsen and the repeat blood counts after 48 hrs show decreasing platelets then it should be a matter of concern and warrants further thorough evaluation to rule out specific infections ( like dengue, malaria , typhoid etc)
The doctor might then have to start appropriate antibiotic therapy as well.
So you may wait for a day or so but not more than that.
Hope this answer is helpful to you .
Wishing your child a speedy recovery.

Hi welcome to HCMForum. It could be denguefever or may not be. there may be no medicines.
But she must be treated for symptoms like sneezingcough vomitings and pains. I advise you
to consult a pediatritian for diagnosis and treatment. I advise you to give her easily digestible
foods like milk bread and foods with less oil and chillies. till the fever comes down. These days
antibiotics are also used to prevent secondary infections. wishing for a quick recovery.
