Could Fibroids In Uterus Result In Foul Smell During Period?
In the last year , at first the bad odors would come at the end of my cycle. now they are coming throughout my whole cycle. This is affecting my life. I am embarressed to be around anyone. I had a pap but it came back good. Can you help me figure out whats going on? I was recently diagnosed with Fibroids in my Uterus .. could that be the problem?

There could be several reasons of foul smelling discharge from vagina. Fibroid uterus may not be the direct cause of Smell. Fibroid can cause blockage of cervical canal, if fibroid is situated in uterine cavity , cervix or vagina. When there is a blockage in passing blood during menses, it can cause collection of blood in uterine cavity. This collection of blood can cause foul smelling discharge. Hope you are not using tampons during menstrual bleeding, which could be an important cause of Foul smelling vaginal Discharge. Fibroid can cause excessive bleeding and then women starts using tampons, which can cause bad infection.Your Doctor has ruled out the possibility of pre -cancerous lesions of cervix by doing PAP smear. Did your Doctor ruled out bacterial infection, Chlamydiasis, bacterial vaginosis etc STI or Non STI infections. You must take proper care in maintaining hygiene, even if you are using sanitary pads. If your Docto determines infection, make sure your husband also gets the treatment. Complete the course of medicines, and avoid intercourse even with protection until you and your husband complete the course, and get complete clearance of foul smell. Hope you understood it well. You must see your doctor for confirmation diagnosis and proper management.
