Could Persistent Dry Cough And Pain In Leg Be Due To Intake Of Ramipril And Amlodipine For BP?
I am suffering with problem of persistent cough mostly dry. Its intensity use to be high in morning and after any meal . I am taking Ramipril 5 and Amlodipine 5 ,one each for my blood pressure problem for 7 to 8 years. Nothing was found in my chest X-ray. More over , sometimes, I am having pain in left leg ( between knee and toe), which usually vanishes after sleep. Is this due to meditation ,I take?
Ramipril belongs to the family of medications called ACE inhibitors. These medications are known to cause a persistent dry cough in some persons.
This means that the ramipril could definitely be the cause of the cough that you are experiencing. You should discuss discontinuation with your doctor. An ARB can be used instead if you need a similar medication that would protect the kidneys and would not cause cough.
In terms of the pain, amlodipine is a very very rare side effect of this medication so other causes would have to be eliminated first.
I hope this helps
