I have a patient in my office who had the Mirena placed 3 weeks ago. She developed an erythematous, raised, sandpaper rash that is only getting worse. She has not changed anything in her diet, soaps, or lotions. No new food, etc. Could this be from the IUD?
Yes, some patients do complain of allergyrash after IUD insertion. Some get more prone to PID after inserting IUD. IUD may cause infection as the vagina contains bacteria & it can reach the reproductive organs while inserting IUD. Take care of your hygiene.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
