Could Swelling Of Labia Minora Be Due To Yeast Infection?

Okay, so I got a very strong itchy feeling "down there." I scratched it. Then I looked down because I felt discomfort. My labia minoras are swollen. I read online that this could be because of a yeast infection. I have recently been taking antibiotics and I am on birth control. Could this be a yeast infection? I've never had one before.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
There could be a number of causes for this, but none of them serious.
Irritation in this area is a real nuisance, not to say an embarrassment.
It does not sound like thrush, because it is confined to the labia and you do not mention any vaginal discharge.
Coming up as quickly as this, it is most likely to be some form of allergy or dermatitis, and the commonest causes of this in this area is a reaction to something you are coming into contact with.
This could be to do with clothing say the material of your underwear or jeans. Or it could be a vaginal deodorant or spray if you use one, or even a bath additive of some sort.
This is a very sensitive area, so think about whether there is something you are coming into contact with in this region that might be causing it.
For relief try getting some 1 per cent hydrocortisone cream.
This is mild, but very good for relieving itching and inflammation, and you can buy it over the counter quite cheaply.
If it does not settle down or you get other symptoms as well, such as redness and pain, which might indicate local infection, then you should check with your gynecologist.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
