Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have a history of juvenile epilepsy, and I stopped taking medicine for it at age 12. Though, I haven t had a seizure since age 10.. I am 22 now and I am trying to lose weight and I am trying to go to a medical weight loss center to do so. The appetite suppressant they perscribe is phentramine, and it is said that the appetite suppresant lowers the shield for seizures. Since I no longer have seizures or take medicine for it, will it affect me?
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query. I understand your concern. Phentermine produces nervous system stimulation, which may result in tremor, anxiety, restlessness, dizziness, insomnia, euphoria, dysphoria, and headache. However there is no unequivocal evidence of seizure inducing side effect of Phentramine. It is better to be cautious when you start it. Take care
