Could The Red Bruise On The Sternum Be A Matter Of Concern?

my husband got hit in the upper sterum with a fastball (60-65 MPH) by my son with practice pitching. He seemed OK but just felt shocked . He has a reddish start of bruise in the area. The area was over where the heart is. should he go in to get checked if he is asymptomatic?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that your husband got hit in the upper sternum with a fastball by your son . He has reddish bruise in the area.If he is asymptomatic, then no need to worry much. Hematoma gradually resolved by itself .Thrombophob gel local application three times a day over it(no rubbing) can help in resolving it.You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
