Diagnosed IBSC. Feeling Bloated, Stomach Distended After Taking Miralax, Linzess. Due To Side Effects?

I have been diagnosed with IBSC. I am on Miralax twice a day, Amitiza twice a day and now I'm on Linzess 145Mcg for the chronic constipation.Taking all of these medications have helped my constipation, but I am so bloated, stomach distended, and I've gained 6 lbs. in the two weeks I've been on the Linzess. Is this typical of Linzess? I feel like a pregnant guppy. Please advise.

Hello.

I have gone through your query, and more than a side effect of the medications, this is a common symptom associated with IBS (especially the constipation form of IBS).

Which is why I would request you to revisit your doctor and request for an addition of medication to address the issue of abdominal bloating.

In the meantime, you can help by drinking plenty of water and increasing the fiber/bulk in your diet.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
