Difficulty In Passing Urine. Moderate Prostatomegaly And Bowel Gases. Is It Curable Through Medicine?
Hello Sir, My father is 77 yrs old and had problems regarding passing the urine . After conducting the USG it was mentioned its Moderate Prostatomegaly and Excessive bowel gases. Prostate measures 4.7cm X 4.9 cm X 4.9cm approx. 60gms. Please advice if the treatment is possible through medication or without surgery. If surgery is the only option then which is the better way and how much financially would it cost so that i can prepare for the same. Thank you. Abhishek D
Hello Thanks for your query.Ultrasound scanning of your father revealed moderate enlargement of prostate which is common at this age. There are medicines to treat this condition by following medication.
1) Tab Tomsulosin once a day which will improve his urine flow.
2) Tab Dutasteride once a day which will inhibit the further growth of the Prostate.
#) Antibiotics will reduce the YTu always associated with the enlarged prostate.
However these medication have their own side effects.and have to be taken till you opt for surgery.
If he is healthy and free from any other cardiac problems I would advice you to consult Urologist and get his surgery done The surgery is an endoscopic surgery termed as TURP.(Trans Urethral Resection Of Prostate). It is gold standard procedure accepted all over the world and free from morbidity and Mortality. This will improve his quality of life. This may cost you roughly from 35 to 50 thousand of Indian Rupees l.
