Discontinued Cipro After Allergic Reaction, On Steroid To Counteract Cipro. Difference Between Side Effect And Allergic Reaction?

I've been on cipro for a few days, maybe four. Today my doctor discontinued it saying the red skin throughout my body was an allergic reaction. I'm now on a steroid to counteract the cipro. What is the difference between an allergic reaction and a side effect? Does the medical literature eliminate allergic reactions from their list of side effects from a particular drug? Don

Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Allergic reaction means rashes, itching angioedema due to anti antibody reactions.
While side effects means any damage or disorder of organs as nausea, vomiting, damage to liver , kidney ( damage may be reversible or irreversible).
The difference , literally nothing .
Other words we can say allergic reaction are a minor form of side effects.
But both counted as adverse drug reaction in medical science.
