Do You Know What It Is A Computer Related Injury (CRI)?

Hi, I am 24 year old male working for a software company in Bangalore. I am working for the past one year. I had a severe back pain and also severe pain in the neck which made me to see an orthopedician. I was given some painkillers and some exercise tips to continue. I followed it for some time and could not find much improvement after stopping the painkillers. I went back to the doctor again for a better advice. He suspected something peculiar now and referred me to a pain and rehabilitation clinic. I got the diagnosis there. Do you know what it is a Computer related Injury (CRI)? This is the exact diagnosis made. After I came out of his office and walked through the road thinking what peculiar diseases are coined depending on the occupation we say and googled it next day, I was astonished to hundreds of pages opened up with this condition called Computer related Injuries. The CRI research was on for the more than 25years though the IT revolution has come up in late nineties in India.

hi guys i m dr rohit, a pain specialist, the CRI is the term coined for the problems one face as a result of poor posture and poor support to the pressure points that touch the hard surface while u r operating a computer for long hrs e.g. ur wrists, elbows. and also when ur keyboard is pretty far off from ur body whr u have to lean forward and stretch ur arms in case u ve to work on the keyboard. It also affects ur eyes if the screen of ur computer/laptop is vey bright and there is not enough illumination around ur work place.
So the best way to avoid this is , keep small cushion or a piece of foam under ur wrists ans elbows while working for long hours, keep ur keyboard near to ur body where u dont have to bend forfward with ur back unsupported. these few precautions shall hell u recover fast, for any doubts buss me at 9891421992.

I am sure you will be knowing about CRI pretty well by now. Please make sure you correct your posture while you work.
Take a break from your work desk every 30 - 40 minutes.
Have a regular exercise regimen, preferably yoga therapy which would give a good stretching exercise to your neck, shoulder and also help you to de-stress.
If still pain persists, you need to treat the same with Acupuncture, Acupressure or Massage therapy.
Make sure to approach a qualified and registered Doctor.

Hi, I too had CRI not exactly similar but in a different way to a different organ, the eye. I never am able to work for more than 2 hours at the computer. I saw the general practitioner nearby who referred me to an optometrist for the refractive error check. He found some errors and referred me the back. After thorough check the doctor has given a similar opinion similar to Computer related injury. So I suggest all of the guys to be aware of such stresses at computers.
