Hi my baby is 16 months. She was given the MMR vaccination when she was 12 months and after that as a side effect she got a swollen gland in her groin n in between her jaw. I'm worried because the two swollen glands are still there. Please help. Thanks
Hi...greeting from Chennai, India. what you are mentioning as swollen glands is called lymphadenopathy. Usually MMR vaccine will not cause lymphadenopathy. The glands might be because of an intercurretn viral infection. You should be worried if the glands are increasing in size or there is continuous fever or she is becoming pale and easily fatigues. Otherwise you need not worry. But if you are - I suggest you get a basic blood test called CBC and consult your pediatrician. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
