Does Mirena Cause Horrible Cramps, breast Tenderness, nipple Growth And Weight Gain As Side Effect?

I got Mirena fitted Oct 28th after years of being on any birth control possible with negetive side affects. I keep getting horrible cramps that put me on the floor, along with breast tenderness and my nipples are growing substantially and developing what looks like to be holes in them. I am also gaining weight even with healthy eating and regular exersize. Are these normal side effects of Mirena?

Hi,

Since Mirena is a hormonal intra-uterine device, it can cause all the side effects seen with oral hormonal contraceptive pills like weight gain, breast tenderness, headaches, acne etc. Since your abdominal cramps seem to be severe, in my opinion, it will be better to inform your doctor so that you can be assessed if the device is still in place or not.

Best wishes.
