Does A Hemotoma Clear Up On Its Own?

Does a hemotoma clear up by itself? I had a hard knock in a football match just over two weeks ago. The bruising that appeared, has all but cleared up, but I am left with a distinct hard lump protruding just under the knee cap on the inner side of the leg. About the size of a 10p piece. It is still a little tender to touch. Please would you advise? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A hematoma usually resolves by itself without any definite treatment. You can apply icepacks for faster recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
