Does A Retroverted Uterus With Secretory Endometrium Cause Problems While Conceiving ?

I got my Transvaginal Ultrasound Result but the Doctor did not interpret. I am so worried. Is there something to be worried of? I am 26 years old and we are planning to have a baby by May 2014. Here's the result:Thank you so much in advance.

Uterus: 4.8x4.9x4.4 cm
Retroverted
No abnormalities appreciated

Endometrium: 1.3 CM
Hyperechoic

Right Ovary: 4.7x5.1x3.0 CM
The right ovary is cystically enlarged as measured with hyperechoic lines and dots with a mural nodule seen suggestive of an ovarian cyst with benign sonologic features, probably dermoid cyst

Left Ovary: 4.3x2.7x3.0 CM
Within a background of polycystic change there is a cystic structure with crenated internal border suggestive of corpus luteum

Cervix: 3.8x2.9x2.5 CM

Impression/Conclusion:
NORMAL SIZED RETROVERTED UTERUS WITH SECRETORY PHASE ENDOMETRIUM
OVARIAN CYST RIGHT AS DESCRIBED PROBABLY DERMOID CYST
POLYCYSTIC LEFT OVARY WITH CORPUS LUTEUM

CORRELATE CLINICALLY

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

You seem to be having a dermoid cyst in one ovary and polycystic changes in the second ovary.

Dermoid is a non cancerous tumor of the ovary occurring in young women. It can turn into cancer in 2% cases. Most of the times it tends to involve both the ovaries. Sometimes it disappears by itself and does not need treatment.

For women with ovarian masses, it is advisable to get a tumor marker screen done. This detects certain substances in blood that are increased in certain tumors. They help in indirectly predicting the type of tumor and plan treatment. since you are planning pregnancy I suggest that you get a AFP, HCG, LDH, CA125 done. Also, dermoids are better removed. So if you are planning pregnancy early you have two options:
1.remove the dermoid by surgery and plan pregnancy.
2.pregnancy first and then removing the tumor.

Since you are also having a second polycystic ovary, it can be drilled at the time of dermoid surgery, increasing your chances of pregnancy.

I suggest that you meet a consultant gynecologist and discuss all these issues. A repeat ultrasound scan or better still an MRI will be helpful in further establishing the diagnosis.

Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
