Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is 92 and was put in the hospital yesterday with bronchitis. The doctor is concerned it could trigger heart failure. Is that a possibility? Her sputum is yellow and she's running a fever. They are giving her IV antibiotics, but he is resistant and her lungs are weak (she's old). Thank you.

Does Bronchitis Trigger A Heart Failure?
HI Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic. No bronchitis cannot trigger a heart failure unless she has a weak heart. What it can cause is a respiratory failure , which ultimately can lead to heart failure. She requires stronger antibiotics , preferable a sputum culture should be sent and antibiotics used as per culture report. If her condition is deteriorating ask your doctors to put her on Non Invasive Ventilation. Hope you find this information useful. Any clarifications or Queries feel free to ask.
