General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Rifampicin, a first-line antitubercular therapy (ATT) drug, is a potent inducer of hepatic cytochrome P450 (CYP) which are involved in the degradation of other drugs.

Therefore, hypertensive patients receiving rifampicin-based ATT are at risk for worsening of hypertension. Please see your clinician for the alternatives.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
