Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 87 year old mother-in-law is having trouble with her left leg swelling especially her knee. She had quiet fiber in her diet but the doctor told her to get back on fiber so she could have good bowel movements. She told us the doctor told her the reason her leg was swelling was because of no bowel movents in several days. Is that true? She had a vale replacement two years ago could this be the reason?
there is no correlation between unilateral leg swelling and bowel movements. I'm sure the good natured doctor meant in a good humored way to appease your mother in law!!
She needs to be checked for DVT though
hope that helps
