Should I Discontinue Fiber Pills Due To Its Smell In Bowel?

Hello Doctor, I started my first day of colon cleanse. Taking 8 fiber pills and 3 laxative pills last night. I broke into a sweat and heart was racing while I was taking a stool just a few minutes ago. Also, all I could smell was fiber power. I m ok now, but I felt like I was going to faint when I was experiencing my first bowel movement. Should I discontinue use?

Hello,

Colon cleanse pills contain laxative that will induce heavy bowel movements especially if you do not have problems with constipation. As it is showing bad effects on your body, it's wise if you stop using it. Let your bowel calm down and regain the normal functioning.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
