Does Zopiclone Affect The Absorption Zinc Within The Body?

Could you please inform me whether zopiclone affects the absorption of zinc within the body. The common side effect is taste disturbances which is a sign that there is a zinc deficiency. A zinc test was conducted where I was given some Zinc and I didn t taste anything which is a sign that I an zinc deficient. Could it be my medication which is causing this?

Detailed answer: Mechanisms of taste disturbances,usually bitter metallic taste associated with zopiclone is not still clearly understood(hypothesized to affect the cellular zinc level).I believe,what they had conducted is called a zinc taste test,just to check out whether the taste disturbances is caused by cellular zinc deficiency.A recent drug derivative from zopiclone,named eszopiclone is nearly devoid of these side effects.Hope this information helps you.If any further questions,happy to answer you.Take care.
