Fecal Analysis Report Of 1.8 Year Old, Diarrhea, No Fever Or Dehydration, Antibiotic Treatment?
HELP!! Hi! I would like to relay the fecalysis result of my son 1 and 8 mos old. color: Brownish yellow Consistency: mushy Ova: none Bacteria: moderate WBC: 0-1 Yeast cells: few. He was passing stool 4 x a day 2 days ago. No fever, No signs of Dehydration . I ve been doing volume per volume replacement to him. Do I need to start antibiotic treatment? thanks!!!
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
It is likely that your son has an infection but the nature of the infection can only be confirmed after a stool culture and sensitivity. Its likely that your son will need antibiotics. But we need to be careful in children about the dose and the choice of drug which is usually decided only after a physical examination of the child.
Its good that you are giving him plenty of fluids. Please continue doing so and see his treating physician to start appropriate treatment.
Hope this helps
